In central Greece you will find the majestic Mount Giona. Since the days of antiquity, it has been known locally simply as Aselinon Oros. It is considered to be the tallest mountain to the south of famous Mount Olympus; and is the fifth largest in all of Greece.

The highest peak on Mount Giona is situated 2510 meters above sea level, and is known as Pyramida. This is followed by Perdika at 2484 meters, Tragonoros at 2456 meters, Platyvouna at 2316 meters as well as Profitis Ilias at 2298 meters above the sea. There are numerous other peaks which still tower almost 2000 meters above sea level.

One of the most popular attractions for those visiting the Mount Giona region can be found in Spercheios Valley. This is a beautiful and picturesque region of Greece which is why countless people make their way to the area every single year. Nearby you will also be able to visit the Malian Gulf.

To the east of Mount Giona you will find the picturesque Amfissa Valley as well as the Crisean Gulf. To the south, you will find the Gulf of Corinth; which is hiding behind the beautiful countryside of the region.

Needless to say, when it comes to visiting Greece, there are so many things to see and do that will keep you busy for days. Anyone who has the time to make their way into central Greece and see the natural sites that the country has to offer, should take the time to visit Mount Giona as well as the surrounding natural beauty of the region.

Although many people make their way to Greece to spend their days relaxing along the white sand beaches or checking out the historical ruins, there are still many who choose to see all that the country has to offer.
