Sněžka – the highest peak of Czech republic – 1602m

Sněžka – with its height of 1602m is the highest peak of Krkonoše Mountains and also the highest point of the Czech Republic. It is located in the north-east part of the Czech Republic and is divided with the borders between the Czech Republic and Poland.

Sněžka is not forested, therefore offers a panoramic view of the Czech Republic and Poland in good weather. This makes Sněžka frequent tourist destination. To the top you can get through several hiking trails from the Czech or Polish side. Probably the most beautiful leads through Obří důl. It takes about 3 hours walking to get to Sněžka from the most of the resorts.

The oldest building on top is a Polish rotunda chapel of St. Lawrence, which was built in the 17th century. Sněžka has, among other things, the highest post office in the Czech Republic, inaugurated in 2007.

Santa Claus Village and Park – exciting fantasy world in Finland

Santa Claus Village is an amusement park in Finland. It is located in the northern part of the country, in Lapland, near the town of Rovaniemi on the Arctic Circle.

Santa Claus Village was formed with only few wooden-cottages in 1950. Today it is a complex, which consists of several cafes, shops and refreshment facilities. There is also Santa Claus office, or Santa Claus post office. There is a white line leading throughout the Santa Claus Village that indicates the Arctic Circle. In the local stores you can buy a really interesting souvenirs. They sell the handicrafts Lapps, knitted sweaters, gloves, hats, reindeer meat, a variety of products from Finnish berries and real Finnish knife that will last for a lifetime.

500 000 tourists visit Santa Claus Village each year. You can get there from Rovaniemi by bus #8 known as Santa’s Express. The village is open all the year. Opening hours are often changed, it is appropriate to look at the official village site. There is the popular Santa Park situated just 2 km from Santa Claus Village.

The basic admission is 28Eur in winter and 15Eur in summer.

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park – one of the best attractions of Ireland

Bunratty Castle with Folk Park is located about 15km west of Limerick on the place, which was once the island on the north bank of the River Shannon. It’s a very strategic location and was occupied by Vikings already in 970 as part of a Viking trading camp. The first Normans built a castle here, but then lost it. The Bunratty Castle was built and destroyed several times during its history. The castle, which stands there today, was built by the MacNamara family around 1425.

In this refurbished and very impressive citadel you can find collections of furniture, tapestries, paintings and sculptures from all over Europe. A part of castle are gardens and completely reconstructed 19th century village.

The Bunratty castle is now famous for its medieval banquets, at which the “Bunratty Singers” perform. You can also attend the medieval feast which takes place on the castle.

The Bunratty castle stands on an area of 26 acres of Bunratty Folk Park, where are over 30 typical village buildings including the school building, doctor’s house, post office and other.

The admission is €10.00 to the Castle and Folk park.
