From accompany you child on a school trip, taking them out for a day out to the park or flying on the dreaded holiday to another country, the multitude of organisation that’s required leaves many parents pulling their hair out.

However no matter how many times you’ve travelled with your youngster, a new environment will always produce anxiety for both of you.

Wherever you’re thinking of travelling to, from going to experience a fun safari park or relaxing on a beach in Spain, bringing your young child along with you will add another dimension to your trip. As well having to carry the excess baggage, including clothes, food, nappies and entertainment for the journey, you have to make sure there’s enough simulation at your destination to keep your child happy – or it really will turn into the holiday from hell.

In order to help you make the most of your holiday with your toddler, here are a few tips to help you organise the trip and mate it an adventure to remember!

Health and Safety

If you’re going somewhere hot, make sure you bring sun cream, water and head protection with you. If it’s in your case you’re able to access it right away as soon as you leave the airport.

If you decide to buy it when you’re all settled in, chances are you’ll be paying a lot more for it, as well missing out on valuable adventure time with your toddler.

Also, once you check in to your hotel, make sure the room is child proof. Although many hotels don’t specifically provide child safety equipment, at least remove all the sharp objects like kitchen utensils. Try to soften any corners with fabric or place all tables and chairs on one side of the room, out the way.

Furthermore, carry your own first aid kid, complete with plasters and antiseptic.

Food

Insure that you take small, compact foods like fruit or finger sandwiches. Drink cartons are also essential, as they are easy to store and easily disposable.

Make sure you pack a bib too, or you’ll end up with a pile of dirty washing very early on.

Comfort

Don’t bring a cot with you – reserve one at your hotel when you book. Also, enquire at restaurants if cots are available. Making sure your child is comfortable will save the tears later on.

Entertainment

Bring your child’s favourite teddy along for the ride. As well as having something to dribble on, they’ll have a piece of home along for the trip which can be very comforting.

If they’re a bit older, make sure they pack their latest piece of tech, such as IPods and gaming essentials. Just don’t forget the chargers!

Travel Equipment

Although there are thousands of child travel equipment products on the market, make sure you only take the essentials in order to save space in your case.

These include a lightweight pushchair, a changing bag, and a backpack for when you’re out and about.
