Pernštejn Castle is indeed a jewel of architecture and an important site for history lovers. The interiors of the castle are unique and they convey successfully the atmosphere of the past lives of Moravian Lords. The guided tours are all in Czech language, but foreigners are provided with printed materials in English, or several other languages, to follow what the guide is saying. All guided tours start at specific hours. If you miss the start hour written on your ticket, you can go back and change it. Unfortunately, the employees of the castle are not nice with the tourists at all. A guide almost yelled at us because we missed the beginning of our tour. Then they made us all, using an agressive voice, turn off our cellphones. Taking pictures is strictly forbidden in this fortress. The standard tour lasts for almost an hour. Once outside, you can find several gift shops. The vendors don’t speak English. We also made the mistake to park in a forbidden area. Instead of receiving a fine or help to correct our mistake, the people working there started laughing, making mean remarks, saying we cannot leave and so on. I expected them to lock us in one of the torture chambers and leave us there to rott. Although the horrible experience with the Pernstejn staff, the castle remains a nice memory.
