Parking your car at Heathrow is Painless | United Kingdom

Updated: May 22, 2020 | By | More

Many people pass through Heathrow Airport every day of the year. Some of them arrive by airplanes, and some of them drive to Heathrow. Of those that drive to the airport, many are going to fly to another destination after they park their vehicle in the ample Heathrow Airport parking. The Heathrow parking lots are also filled with vehicles owned by people who are dropping their friends and relatives at the airport for their flights or picking their loved ones up upon their return to London from a trip or holiday.

One thing all these people have in common is that they drove to one of the busiest airports in the world. From central London, the drive isn’t far. It’s only about 15 miles. It’s easy to reach via the M4 and M25 motorways. Where drivers exit the motorways depends on where they’re going when they reach the airport.

Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 are located in the centre of the airport. They’re close to one another. Drivers arriving on M4 should take junction 4. Drivers using M25 should use junction 15. After exiting the motorways, there are signs to direct unfamiliar drivers to Terminals 1 and 3. For those that use satellite navigation, the postcodes for the terminals are TW6 1AP for Terminal 1 and TW6 1QG for Terminal 3.

Terminal 4 has a separate entrance at the south of the airport. From M25, drivers exit at junction 14. From M4, drivers exit at junction 4b and proceed south along M25 to junction 14. The postcode for Terminal 4 is TW6 3XA.

Terminal 5 has a separate access road from West Perimeter Road, which can be accessed from junction 14 of M25. As with Terminal 4, those driving from M4 should exit at junction 4b and take M25 south to junction 14. Terminal 5’s postcode is TW6 2GA.

Drivers who are setting down passengers can use the set down lanes located outside the terminals. Waiting is not allowed, and police will request parked vehicles to leave the lane. There are numerous Heathrow parking options for those who wish to accompany their friends into the airport to wait with them for their flight. Those drivers who are meeting someone who is arriving are required to use Heathrow Airport parking at the short stay car park. Cars may not wait for disembarking passengers on the terminal forecourt.

It’s a quick walk from the short stay car parks to each terminal. There are signs directing drivers to the appropriate Heathrow parking lot. Heathrow also offers valet parking from specific drop-off points on the terminal forecourts. Long stay and business parking options are also available. A courtesy coach ferries passengers to and from the remote Heathrow airport parking.

Drivers should take care not to leave their vehicles unattended. Police will give unattended vehicles a parking ticket and remove them from the terminal forecourts for security reasons. There is a charge for recovery and storage if the vehicle is not recovered the day it is removed.
