Here are certain things which should be checked in advance for ensuring a safe and comfortable travelling experience:

  • Reputation of the car hire agency should be good; it should be known among the people for its great services. Take all the information properly for avoiding any problems later.
  • All the different types of cars should be available with the agency for hiring purpose, from small, medium to big cars; very type of cart should be shown in different colors and brands.
  • Check the interiors as well exteriors of the car very properly, any type of dent or scratch on the outside or stain inside should be shown for avoiding the extra payments.
  • As per the climatic conditions, check the amenities, especially the air conditioner and heating facilities. In cold areas, one would need heat and for hot reasons, air conditioner is a must to have in car.
  • Other amenities in the car like the seat belts, seat covers, windshields, audio player, etc. should also be checked as they play very important role in making a trip enjoyable.
  • Make sure to check all the discounts, which are offered for attracting the customers. Even special offers are given on some of the deals, so check everything properly.
  • Make good bargains on the final deals as there are so many agencies available in the market, thus extra benefits in terms of money can be availed in such ways.
  • In case of driver services, one should check the work permit as well as the license as this will ensure safety.
  • As there are so many different types of cars available so make sure to select the one in which everyone can accommodate easily and can travel comfortably.
  • Read the terms and conditions properly so that hidden charges can be avoided, even any other type of confusion can be avoided by giving proper attention to the documentations.

All these things can help in getting a good car; from so many varieties air port car hire available, it becomes difficult to make the selection. One should spend some time in finding out all the details so that a reasonable service is availed for enjoying a tension free trip with the loved one in any city.

Don’t let the concrete shopping centres and the grey cities fool you – the UK still has pockets of wilderness. Here’s our pick of the best places to see rare animals, birds and insects in these isles.

1. Woburn Abbey Deer Park

Many different types of deer live together at this deer park, including the shy and retiring Musa deer, the Sika, Axis, Chital Deer, and Barasingha. Muntjac and Chinese Water Deer are more aloof and you may see these miniature friends hoofing around solo. The 11th Duke of Bedford founded the Deer Park as he wished to preserve many species on his estate. Today you can visit the 3,000 acre estate and see the deer on foot as you roam through.

2. Otters! Nationwide…except Kent

Otters are now back in healthy numbers after spending the last decade on the brink of extinction. There’s only one place you can’t see an otter in the wild: Kent! Thanks to the work of bodies like the Sussex Wildlife Trust, otter numbers have returned to healthy levels in most of the country.

3. Golden Eagle, Scottish Highlands

Golden eagles are not a common sight in the UK but there are a couple of places you can see them. This massive and impressive bird of prey traditionally homes in the open moorlands and wild mountains of Scotland. Eagles are incredibly loyal to their traditional nesting sites and don’t like to have their territories or routines disturbed. Consequently, it’s hard to conserve eagles without the right habitat.

4. Dragonflies and damselflies

Dungeness RSPB Reserve is a great place to see British birds and of course, beautiful jewel-like dragonflies. Dungeness is made up of miles of shingle, particularly across the beach area. Altogether there are 40 species of dragon and damselflies in the UK. The sound of a dragonfly buzzing over a pond is one of the most familiar sounds of British summertime.

5. Longleat Safari Park

See all of nature’s charismatic megafauna at this famous and much loved wildlife park in the South West of England (between Bristol, Glastonbury and Southampton). You can see giraffes, lions, elephants and cheetahs all gambolling around the grounds of Longleat manor. Longleat is an 18th century house in 900 acres of manicured parklands, providing a grand setting for corporate events and weddings.

Be careful when out trekking in the UK. Although we have adders and vipers (venomous snakes native to the UK) , we don’t have anything too dangerous lurking in our wilds. That will take care of those clinical negligence claims you’re thinking about filing when you’re flailing about in A&E).

Remember to plan ahead if you’re going somewhere remote and bring a fully charged camera with you, or a notepad, or whatever you use to collect your data or make memories!

Golf is of course an old game which started life in Scotland. Although Britain and Ireland are still very much the home of golf, with many of the world’s best courses and resorts, there are also some excellent facilities in top European destinations, giving you plenty of golfing opportunities and much more besides.

Scotland

It’s hardly surprising that Scotland is still the number one Mecca for real lovers of golf. With an incredible number of courses, there are many different types of golfing holiday to be had in Scotland, from the ultimate in luxury and exclusivity to something more accessible and friendly. Of course St Andrews is the first place many people think of, and for good reason, for the facilities are second to none, the scenery breathtaking, and the town itself is a charming one to spend time in while you’re here.

England

England has for a long time been a major player within the golfing world, with literally thousands of golfing clubs operating up and down the country. Lower Stondon in Bedfordshire is a popular choice, and an accessible one you can relax and enjoy yourself in. Sheringham in Norfolk is another excellent option, an 18 hole course set on a stunning coastal location. Cromer is another top pick for golfing in England, a pretty seaside town a stone’s throw from Norwich.

Ireland

Ireland has had a huge role to play within the history of golf, having made an enormous contribution to organising it on a competitive level. The golfing resorts here are truly exclusive, so if you’re in the market for top-notch facilities and a spot of luxury here and there look no further. The K Club acted as setting for the Ryder Cup in 2006, while the magnificent spot at Killeen Castle was host to the Solheim Cup in 2011.

Spain

Spain is the way to go if you’re looking for golfing on mainland Europe, as the only place on the continent to host the Ryder Cup. The Valderrama Club is a much loved choice, set in the exclusive resort of Sotogrande. One of the natural advantages to booking a golfing holiday in Spain is that you get the Spanish climate and culture thrown into the mix. From the gorgeous beaches to the picturesque towns, not to mention the amazing hospitality you’ll enjoy on site, this is certainly a premier option.

Portugal

Portugal is another excellent place to enjoy a golfing holiday in Europe. The Praia d’el Rey resort is home to a fantastic, well maintained golf course, set in an unbeatable location with the Atlantic spreading forth off the coast. Portuguese culture is another irresistible ingredient on a holiday here, with the warm climate making for some of the best local food and drink produce you’ll find anywhere in Europe.

Wherever you choose for a golfing holiday in Europe, you can expect excellent services as well as fun places to visit in the surrounding areas. Just remember it doesn’t all have to be about golf!

There are so many different types of holidays to take when thinking about planning a trip to holiday, you might be after a relaxing beachside break or a cultural weekend break to the city, but one option most people often don’t even consider, is lake holidays! Here are five reasons your next trip around Europe should be to a lake destination.

1. Cities and towns by lakes often have a rich cultural history supported by the presence of that lake.
If you really want to visit a place that has it all, and expansive lake with a thriving cultural presence, then Italy’s Lake Garda – the largest lake in the country – is the perfect location. It is located in Northern Italy, about halfway between Verona and Brescia, and is easily accessible from the north by the Brenner Pass. There are many different places to stay during a visit to Lake Garda. There are pricey exclusive resorts, as well as affordable family sized villas for rent. On this south side of Lake Garda lies the ancient Roman city of Sirmione. Here you can visit ancient spa complexes, and Scaliger castle which was built in the 13th century. Gardaland is a theme park that is popular among the locals and tourists alike.

2. Lakes support a wide variety of relaxing activities.
Visiting a lake means that you can take part in lots of different activities. Lakes are excellent places to take part in water sports, like kayaking, canoeing, or sailing. The Masuria region of Poland has over 1,000 lakes in the north western part of the country, and is an extremely popular destination for water sports. These are all glacial lakes, and while relatively deep, they are calm and therefore excellent places to take sailing lessons. There are many rivers and streams that connect these lakes, and these are great for paddling expeditions.

3. Lakes are perfect habitats for nature lovers.
Lakes are large areas of freshwater that attracts many different kinds of animals. Lake Ladoga, one of the largest lakes in the world, and the largest in Europe, also has a very large population of water birds. Freshwater fish are also very numerous, making this lake great for fishermen. This lake, that spans across both Russia and Finland, is perfect for birdwatchers and naturalists. Why not find a local car hire company, rent a car and head over to Lake Ladoga, ecologically a very special lake, and invites all kinds of explorations.

4. Cleaner, more beautiful water.
Lakes are often disregarded over coastal areas in favour of beaches and a beach scene, but savvy travellers know that some lake beaches are even more beautiful and relaxing. Lake Annecy of France is regarded as Europe’s cleanest lake, and also happens to be France’s second largest lake. It is the cleanest because of strict environmental regulations. Swimming, biking around the shore and water sports are the most popular activities here. A visit to France is not complete without a getaway to beautiful, scenic Lake Annecy.

5. Beautiful mountain lakes are a true getaway all year long.
Lakes can be situated in many different habitats, and mountain lakes are especially unique. The landscape surrounding mountain lakes are refreshing, with the forest covered peaks and valleys. Lake Geneva is one of the most popular destinations for lake holidays in Switzerland and Europe. It is the largest alpine lake in Europe, sitting at an elevation of 1,220 feet. Visiting mountain lakes means that even in the winter there are surrounding activities. At Lake Geneva, skiing, as well as mountain and lake scenery make it a great place to visit, even in the winter. In the summer, yachting on the lake and lounging on the shores are very popular.
