Ponta da Piedade is one of the most beautiful natural points in the Algarve region in Portugal. It is situated in the south of Portugal, about 2km south of the center of Lagos. Ponta da Piedade is oddly shaped rocks and caves in the steep rocks created by water erosion. For many centuries the water created a beautiful rock formations towering 20 meters from the sea, bays, rocky domes and caves.

You can get to Ponta da Piedade through the tops of the cliff, where is the large car park and a lighthouse to warn ships. From the lighthouse there are many trails leading to various corners of breathtaking areas and views. However, an unforgettable experience at Ponta da Piedade is boating through the caves, rocks and small romantic beaches. The best place to get boats is the port of Lagos, where the tourist office provides tours and day trips to the Ponta da Piedade.

Whilst the sea cliff at Los Gigantes is spectacularly steep, it certainly isn’t as geologically diverse as those at Ponta da Piedade.
However, there is a similar rock formation called the sea horse rock; a rugged, sharply pointed sea rock with reddish patches on Madeira’s eastern tip. This is one of the most photographed features of the Ponta de São Lourenço.
