If you have always wanted to experience Italy and everything it has to offer, Eurocamp will enable you to do so on a budget. Camping in Italy has become an increasingly popular option for those who do not want to pay expensive hotel prices, and it also offers more flexibility in terms of where you can visit.

Whether you are new to camping or a seasoned camper, Eurocamp will provide you with the perfect opportunity to submerge yourself in stunning areas like Lake Garda, Tuscany, or The Italian Adriatic, all for a fraction of the price of a hotel holiday.

While camping in Italy you will have the option of going down the independent route, or you can choose to stay in a campsite that is set up and ready to go. The first option is ideal for those who already have their own camping equipment, RVs or a caravan. The second is great for those who want everything to be available and ready to use from the second they arrive.

Both options will allow you to experience self-catering holidays at their best; once you are settled into your nature filled surroundings, you can choose to eat and explore the rural and urban sites of Italy as and when you want. A stroll on the shores of Lake Garda can be followed by shopping in an Italian meat market, before you end the evening with a glass of Pinot Grigio over authentic Italian food.

Family holidays while camping in Italy are idyllic and filled with fun and adventures. No matter which area of the country you choose to stay in, you can guarantee that you will not be short of things to do.

The Italians are renowned throughout Europe for their sense of hospitality, and often embrace tourists and immerse them in their culture. While visitors to central Italy can expect to be surrounded with historical reminders of the Renaissance, those who head for the south can paddle in the sea at resorts like Lido de Jesolo. No matter where you choose to plan your family holidays in Italy, you can guarantee you will have the trip of a lifetime.

10. Mingle with the locals

If you are having trouble navigating through the city, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Locals are often more than welcome to help foreigners out. They can give you helpful advice such as where to eat.

11. Smaller cities first

If it is your first trip to Italy, you may want to visit the smaller cities that aren’t as overwhelming. Save the larger, more populated cities for a time when you are more familiar with the country.

12. Realize that lines will be long at popular tourist destinations

You want to be thoroughly prepared. Realize that the weather can change on a dime.

14. Go during a time when a festival is going on

. Festivals in Italy are popular. This is a great time to visit the area and can provide tons of things for you to do.

Dupnitsa is a town in western Bulgaria. It is located in Kyustendil Province, at the foot of the Rila mountains. Currently Dupnitsa has more than 40 000 inhabitants.

The first mention of Dupnitsa is from the 15th century. Major attractions include the Art Gallery, Historical Museum of Dupnitsa, the clock tower and the churches in the city. About 7km east of town there is a monastery Resilovo. 14 km northeast, near the town of Sapareva Banya you can find the ruins of the ancient Roman town of Germania. Nearby is also a spa and mountain resort Panichishte, which offers excellent conditions for hiking and relaxing and in winter for skiing.

Dupnitsa is also called The Green and Shady Town because of the huge number of trees in the town. But it is also called The Little Italy of Bulgaria because lots of people left to work to Italy and returns in summer for vacation when the city is full of Bulgarian “Italians”.

In the northwest of Italy, near Genoa, you find one of the most romantic ports of the Ligurian region. Portofino is a picturesque fishing village, which took the hearts of many Italians, but also famous celebrities from all over the world. Portofino became one of the most exclusive and expensive resorts in the country. It is more suitable for fishing or a romantic dinner on the coast rather than lounging on the beach.

In the past, Portofino belonged to the Roman Empire and its name probably originated from the “Portus Delphini” because of the huge dolphins colony that lived here. A small town gained importance during the Middle Ages, when fishermen from the local port provided food for residents of the surrounding mountains.

Portofino is in a part of natural park – Parco Naturale Regionale di Portofino.

There are lots of great sport facilities near Portofino. You can try sailing or windsurfing. Surrounding cliffs created real diving paradise with a unique ecosystem.

On the rocks above the sea level you can visit romantic St. George’s Church from 12th century, which ensures the protection of Portofino. From its tower there was a great view of the sea, which served as a good sea watch tower. On another hill, in a beautiful blooming garden, there is the Brown castle from the 16th century. Also this was originally a military structure, because of its strategic position, which also praised the Emperor Napoleon.

Oratory of Nostra Signora dell’Assunta from 14th century also worth seeing.

Just west of the world famous Lake Maggiore is where you will find Lake Orta. Known by this name since the early years of the 16th century, the lake was originally known as Lago di San Giulio after having been dedicated to the Saint Claire back in the 4th century.

Lake Orta is situated only 35 kilometers northwest of Novara. The city is a popular stop on the Turin-Milan rail line. However, the lake is only 6 kilometers south of the Toce which is the more popular stopping point for people making their way to Lake Orta.

Lake Orta, Italy

In the middle of Lake Orta is where you will find the Island of San Giulio. The island of San Giulio is only 275 meter long and 140 meters wide. The first chapel built on the island was first erected back in the 5th century. Today, the picturesque buildings on San Giulio are part of a Benedictine Monastery. It was named after the 4th century Saint Claire of Novara.

It is believed that the glacial sheets which formed Lake Orta were also the same that were known to have led to the formation of Lake Maggiore. It is believed that as the glaciers retreated, the water created from their melting was only partially diverted to Orta. Regardless of their formation, both lakes are very popular destinations for Italians and tourists alike.

The shores surround Lake Orta are covered with lush green fields and many olive groves. While there are several beaches to choose from, most people who make their way to the lake instead opt to head out into the lake for a relaxing day away from the distractions of the countless tourists that line the shorelines. There are many attractions in the area and some fine resorts and restaurants located along the shores of Lake Orta.
