Bouzov castle is also possible birthplace of the Czech King Jiří z Poděbrad (George of Poděbrady), whose family – the lords of Kunštát – owned this castle from 1396 until the end of the 15th century. At the end of the 16th century almost the whole castle was destroyed by fire. The owners of the castle had not fully reconstructed it, but they tried to sell it. But there was nobody who would like to buy such a “ruin” so they forced Grand Master of the Order of the Teutonic Knights to buy it. In the 19th century the castle was rebuilt by a young Grand Master archduke Eugen of Austria in the style of German Neo-gothic. For the reconstruction was responsible Viennese architect Georg Hauberisser who designed the castle as a symbol of medieval traditions and the Teutonic Knights.

He built a new two-storey palace, demolished and restored the old high cylindrical tower. A magnificent furniture, including chairs, beds, tables and even a ceiling, was moved here from various castles. There were built the moat, walls with battlements, drawbridges and great medieval gates. At the same time was also equipped with very modern features, as it had functional bathroom, practical kitchen and phone. However until today it is not electrified.

Bouzov castle is now considered one of the most popular and most visited monuments in the Czech Republic. The castle was a place of several fairy tales, including Arabela, Fantaghirò, and Before the Fall, so if you want to get to the fairy tale for a while, do not wait and come!

Guimarães, which is reportedly the oldest city in the whole of Portugal, was built in the middle of slightly hilly landscape. In 1139, Alfonso Henriques proclaimed himself king Alfonso I. and chose Guimarães for his royal seat. Although the capital city of Portugal moved quickly to the city of Coimbra and the seat of a king to the city of Porto, Guimarães remained forever a birthplace of the nation. The proof of the city’s importance is the characteristic shape of the local castle, which appears on the Portuguese coat of arms in the middle of the state flag.

The city center is full of the narrow medieval streets that are lined with shops and cafes and invite you to a pleasant walk. The oldest street is Rua de Santa Maria, which is paved with cobblestones and decorated with the old houses with ornate statues. It leads from the main square, Largo da Oliveira, along the palace Paço dos Duques up to the castle. This is the biggest tourist attraction of the city.

Castle Castelo de Sao Miguel is composed of huge square castle tower, which is surrounded by eight smaller towers with battlements. It was built in the 10th century to protect the city against attacks of Moors and Normans. About 200 years later, it was spread thanks to the initiative of Henry of Burgundy. According to the legend, Alfonso I. The chapel inside has a mysterious character because the floor is made of gravestones of the first Portuguese kings and their ancestors.

During your visit you should not miss a visit to the charming church of São Francisco, which was built in 1400 in the Gothic style.

City of Guimarães is also known for its football club Vitória de Guimarães. The stadium is located in the northwestern part of Guimarães and is quite large in comparison with the city. Blarney boasts a long history and magical charm and offers a number of beautiful sights and places to explore. One of the places that is definitely interesting for tourists, is beautifully preserved square, which today operates as the main point of village life.

The village has been subsequently developed around this square in Tudor times and was always owned and carefully managed by the owner of Blarney Castle.

Places of interest include, for example The Blarney Stone, which is a block of bluestone built into the battlements of Blarney Castle. Also thanks to it the castle attracts more than two hundred thousand tourists each year. Visitors are coming here mainly because of the known stone they want to kiss. The legend says that whoever kisses the stone will be blessed with the gift of eloquence. Blarney Castle is surrounded with more than a thousand acres of beautiful woods that are ideal for walking, rest and picnic.

Those who do not know Ireland, should know that the term “village” is not sufficient for Blarney. This place plays an important role in tourism for more than 100 years and is known throughout the world. About a century ago a tourist would probably visit the castle and take a tea in one of two hotels in the village. Along one side of the square would have seen a number of cozy cottages, which still stand here. There is also a church nearby that was built in 1766. Another great attraction was old power plant founded in 1843, which had a room with steam and Turkish baths.

Now the visitors can play golf or do shopping in a cozy little shops on the square, but of course the most important is to kiss The Blarney Stone!
