Tomášovský výhľad (Tomášov View) is the most famous and photographed viewpoint in the Slovak Paradise National Park, a dramatic rocky outcrop at 680 metres offering a jaw-dropping panorama of the Hornád River canyon, the Biele Skaly limestone cliffs, and the forested ridges of one of Central Europe’s most spectacular hiking destinations. Accessible via a relatively easy 45-minute hike from the village of Spišské Tomášovce, this natural balcony has become the iconic image of Slovenský raj, and for good reason: the view is simply unforgettable.

Tomášovský výhľad (Tomas’ view) is a rock terrace cliff situated at 680m above see level which offers amazing view of the mouth of Biely creek and Hornád river. During the good weather it is possible to see the peaks of High Tatras – the most important moutain range in Slovakia.
This rock cliff is one of the symbols of the Slovak Paradise National Park and it is the most visited and most popular tourist destination in the area. The fastest way how to get to Tomášovský výhľad is from Čingov village or from Spišské Tomášovce village, following the green or yellow tourist trail and it takes 30-45min.
Tomášovský výhľad is a popular place for climber training. Under the rocky terrace in the immediate vicinity of the tourist trail is the cave “Michalova džura”.

Hiking to Tomášovský výhľad
The hike to Tomášovský výhľad is one of the most rewarding short walks in Slovak Paradise. Starting from Spišské Tomášovce, the trail follows a well-marked path through mixed forest, ascending through beech and spruce woodland on a gentle incline. The walk takes approximately 45 minutes with an elevation gain of around 150 metres. The trail is suitable for most fitness levels, though sturdy walking shoes are recommended as sections can be uneven. At the summit, the view from the rocky platform encompasses the Hornád River canyon winding through the valley below, the white limestone cliffs of Biele Skaly to the north, and on clear days, the peaks of the High Tatras on the horizon approximately 50 kilometres away. The viewpoint has safety railings and is safe for visitors of all ages.
Slovak Paradise National Park
Slovak Paradise National Park encompasses 198 square kilometres of some of Central Europe’s most dramatic natural scenery. The park’s defining feature is its network of gorges and canyons, where ladders, chains, and wooden footbridges allow hikers to navigate through narrow limestone chasms alongside waterfalls and cascading streams. The Suchá Belá gorge is the most popular route, a two-hour circuit involving 22 metal ladders and numerous chain-assisted sections through a narrow canyon with multiple waterfalls. The Prielom Hornádu canyon follows the river through a deep limestone gorge with sections where walkways are bolted directly to the cliff faces. Spiš Castle, a UNESCO World heritage site 20 minutes north, is one of the largest castle complexes in Central Europe. Entry to the national park costs approximately 2 euros.
The area around Tomášovský výhľad offers several other hiking routes, including the popular Suchá Belá gorge trail with its metal ladders and chain-assisted sections.
Visitors should bring sturdy footwear, water, and weather-appropriate clothing, as conditions in the gorge can change rapidly. The park entrance fee is approximately 2 euros and trail maps are available at the visitor centre in Cingov.
