African Safari and Adventure Programs
\\n
If you want to experience more, Zoo Dvůr Králové offers many adventure programs. The African Safari is a great ride through African nature where you come close to herds of antelopes, zebras, giraffes and wildebeest, as well as lions and cheetahs. The ride takes approximately 20 minutes and is available from May until September. The off-road safari and night safari cater to small groups of up to 12 people, offering a more intimate encounter with the animals after dark when many species become active. The Attendant at the Zoo program lets you become a nurse for one day to experience what it is like to take care of animals. You go through a backstage tour of the zoo and learn the daily rhythm of the animals. The Zoo Backstage guided walk takes you through the most interesting corners not normally accessible to the public. For a truly unforgettable occasion, a Wedding in the Zoo offers the chance to tie the knot with witnesses such as zebras or hippopotamuses, followed by a banquet in the Cheetah Hall. The Hour Gardening program teaches visitors how to care for the plants that keep the zoo parkland beautiful.

Breeding Success and Conservation Impact
\\n
Zoo Dvůr Králové has earned its reputation as one of the most important breeders of African animals outside Africa. The zoo manages the European studbook for several endangered species, including the eastern black rhinoceros, the African wild dog, and the addax antelope. Its northern white rhinoceros breeding program gained international attention, as the facility housed the last surviving individuals of the subspecies and contributed vital research to reproductive science. The zoo participates in European Endangered Species Programme for over 30 species, coordinating breeding efforts across zoological institutions throughout the continent. The expansive African savannah enclosure, covering several hectares, allows herds of giraffe, zebra, and antelope to roam in conditions that closely mimic their natural habitat. A veterinary centre on site provides advanced medical care and supports field conservation projects in Kenya and Tanzania. The zoo also runs an education programme that reaches over 50,000 schoolchildren each year, teaching conservation principles through hands-on encounters with animals. The basic admission to both Zoo and Safari costs 11 euros, and the grounds are open daily throughout the year from 8 AM to 6 PM in summer and 9 AM to 4 PM in winter. The zoo also runs a dedicated white rhino breeding facility where several calves have been born through a carefully managed programme that pairs individuals from different European zoos to maintain genetic diversity. The facility spans 2 hectares with indoor winter housing and outdoor paddocks that mimic the African bushveld. Guided behind-the-scenes tours of the rhino facility cost an additional 5 euros and include the opportunity to watch the animals being fed by their keepers.
