Aquapark Vyhne – Thermal Water Paradise in Slovakia

Updated June 10, 2026 by europeexplored No Comments

Steam rises lazily from outdoor pools as the crisp Slovak mountain air brushes your skin. Aquapark Vyhne sits nestled among the volcanic hills of central Slovakia, drawing its thermal waters from deep underground springs rich in minerals. The contrast is intoxicating: your shoulders submerged in thirty-eight-degree warmth while your face tingles with alpine cold. Families splash in wave pools nearby as couples sink into quieter thermal zones.

The village Vyhne lies at the beginning of the protected area Štiavnica Mountains (Slovak: Štiavnické vrchy), amidst beautiful nature, only 15 km away from the historic royal mining town of Banská Štiavnica and less than 40 km from another beautiful medieval royal town of Kremnica.

The village Vyhne offers also great wellness and relaxation services which are available in the Water Paradise Vyhne all year round, regardless of the weather and season.

During the summer season, which lasts from May to September, all the relax and wellness services are available at additional charge, while outside the main summer season they are included in each access to the swimming pool.

Modern Relaxation Sports Centre offers squash, bowling, indoor-outdoor pool with relaxing whirlpools, a jacuzzi, spa services, solarium, fitness room, and 4 saunas including dry, steam, herbal and infra. You can enjoy all kinds of massages here, from classical through sporty and reflexology to special treatments such as honey massage, cupping, ayurveda, hot stones, and others. Pools are filled with natural thermal water with a temperature ranging from 29 to 36°C.

Water is also chemically treated and controlled to meet all hygiene standards. The result is crystal clear water with an extremely favourable composition of minerals and microbiological hygiene without any contraindications.

Water Paradise Vyhne is opened every day from 09:00 (or from 08:00 during weekends) to 21:00 and the basic whole-day admission is €11.

The Podhajsky Spring and the Healing Waters of the Štiavnica Hills

The thermal water filling the pools at Aquapark Vyhne originates from the Podhajsky spring, a natural mineral source discovered during medieval silver mining in the 13th century. The water emerges at 42°C from a depth of 500 metres, passing through layers of volcanic basalt and limestone that enrich it with calcium, magnesium, and sulphur compounds. Local miners used the springs for centuries to soothe aching muscles after long shifts underground, and the modern spa continues this healing tradition. The water is particularly effective for treating musculoskeletal conditions and respiratory issues, with the minerals absorbing through the skin during extended soaks. The outdoor thermal pool maintains a steady 36°C even in midwinter, when snow piles high on the surrounding hillsides and steam rises thickly from the surface. The indoor pool sits at 34°C and feeds into a jacuzzi zone with six hydro-massage stations targeting different muscle groups. Find a moment for yourself and your health and come to relax and to eliminate stress from everyday life.

Mining History and Winter Sports in the Štiavnické Mountains

Just 15 km northeast of Vyhne lies the UNESCO-listed town of Banská Štiavnica, a medieval mining centre that once produced most of Europe’s silver and gold. The Slovak Mining Museum, housed in the historic Bartolomej Gallery, takes you 500 metres underground through 700-year-old tunnels where you see original mining equipment, water drainage systems, and the wooden pit props that still hold the tunnels open. The tour lasts 90 minutes and costs €12. In winter, the Štiavnické Mountains transform into a cross-country skiing destination with 60 km of groomed trails through the calderas of extinct volcanoes. The Salamander Resort, 8 km north of Vyhne, offers downhill skiing on two slopes with a 450-metre vertical drop, night skiing on Fridays, and equipment rental from €15 per day. The nearby town of Kremnica is home to the oldest still-operating mint in the world, producing gold coins since 1328, and its historic centre features a Gothic castle and a 15th-century plague column in the main square.
